Animals are an important part of our lives. Pets, farm animals, and wildlife all play an invaluable role. Without them, we’d have less joy, less biodiversity, less economic opportunity, and less beauty. That’s why we should help them whenever we can, and volunteering is a great way to do so.
Here are some ideas to get started:
1. Walk dogs for elderly people or those with limited mobility in the community.
2. Help at a local animal shelter, assisting with cleaning, feeding, and socializing.
3. Take picture-perfect photos of shelter animals to help them get adopted.
4. Participate in an animal therapy program to bring joy and comfort to hospital patients, nursing home residents, veterans, or school children.
5. Become a foster parent so animals can have a comfy place to live while waiting to be adopted.
6. Volunteer at a horse rescue or therapy center, grooming, feeding, and exercising horses.
7. Organize fundraising events to support animal welfare organizations.
8. Help marine wildlife rehabilitation centers by volunteering to care for and release injured or stranded marine animals.
